De Chirico- Projections

After spending a few days laying out UV's I can now start attempting to texture my scene. After talking to Alan he showed me how to use projections to texture certain sections of my scene. Below is a render from the practice scene. The resolution is wrong I know, I need to change it.

Below are some renders from the scene I've laid the UV's out of and have started to use the projections. The geometry needs to be tweaked to fit the image. When everything is correctly in place I will then bake the texture.

I will be going back in and finding ways to texture other sections as well as the projection will only work form angle.

Modeling- The ground Plane

Finsihed modeling my first De Chirico painting. However it still isn't quite finished as I've got to add in the gorund plane. This is proving rather tricky as, as can be seen the painting is not based upon reality.

After talking to Alan on friday, he showed me a way in which I can add a ground plane. As the painting doesn't abide by reality I need to match up my ground plane first. He recomended I create a camera ot use instead of the inbuilt ones in Maya. This way I can get my perspective right. By experimenting with the focal lengh and overscan settings. Below is what I hope is a balence between reality and De Chirico's painting.

Starting Modeling

Started modeling some filler 'De Chirico' props for my scene. As Phil suggested I fill out certain parts with different De Chirico elements, I've modeled some towers (which along with clocks, trains and statues) is a regular theme.

As well as the towers, I've also taken another look at how my world needs to be modeled. As De Chirico's paintings don't have proper perspective, it's been a challenge to figure out how to keep this 'false world' correct. After talking to Alan today he gave me two options. The first would be to model the paintings as they are seen. This would mean that, from the point of view of the paintings, the world would look correct, however any other angle wouldn't make sense. The second would be to find a way to 'cheat' the perspective. Below is a test of modeling the scene as it is depicted in the painting. From a 3/4 point of view, everything looks wrong but in the front view, the 3D cubes etc look correct and like the painting.

Voice Over 2

After sending out voice over requests I gained a second reply. This recording is by Andrew Stanson.
