I got the idea to try and find out when animation was first used in music videos whilst listening to Pillboxx- Time to Dance
"The Day My Baby gave me a Surprise" was a song created by a rock band in 1970's called Devo. It was first released in 1970. The music video to go with the song was the first to use computer and traditional animation. I would put up a clip to go with this, but I can't find anything which looks like the original version of video.
